conceptronic USB 2.0 card / for windows only?

today i bought a conceptronic (model: c480i5) 5-port usb 2.0 card to install on an older pc.
i have VectorLinux 5.1.1 soho running with kernel 2.6.13

anyhow, i plugged in my pendrive and nothing happened (Vector has automatic usb mounting). i then typed lspci in a terminal and the card was not listed at all.
the only listings were for the IDE, ISA, PCI controler chips and for my ethernet and vga cards.
finaly lsusb returns nothing so, it realy doesn't detect the card.

have i just bought myself a windows-only card? like what happens with winmodems?

I doubt it.

What does syslog and the kernel messages say about it?
