Computer doesn't turn off when halting system
 

Hi!
I'm running Mandrake 9.2 and since i installed it, it can't turn off power when i choose computer shut down.
I followed the detailed commands-screen during the process, and the last 2 commands were :
halting system
power down, but finally it didn't do that.
The computer has certainly all ATX and whatever features required for software power down procedure.
(when running windiws, there's no more this problem)
What shall i do? Please help!

I forgot to say that i haven't encountered this problem on mandrake 8.1, i used earlier...

i had an older pc and it worked when i used the "use real mode APM BIOS call to power off" switch at compiling the kernel. this surely might only help if you use APM (instead of ACPI).

Is there any option to resolve the problem without (re)compiling the kernel?
