Hi on there !

I've just installed Redhat 9.0 (my first linux).
I managed to get the sound to work (apparently) because mp3s seem "animate" my XMMS...



But I'd like to listen to my music through the optical SPDIF output on my Guillemot Fortissimo II soundcard (as I did before on my Win****).
And the thing is that I just don't have an idea of what to do to activate it !

Just to start with, please post the following:
Output of 'dmesg' with anything concerning sound

1. Load the latest rpm's for alsa
2. Also, load/install 'alsamixer' and 'play' with the mixer settings, http://www.iua.upf.es/~mdeboer/projects/alsamixergui/ and scroll over the the right side of the mixer, you may see some 'digital' settings of interest.
3. See http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc...&module=cs46xx for what your modules should look like.
and also see http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php?page=cs46xx for some hints.

That is strange, I don't see your audio card on the dmesg, please post the results of 'lspci'. Also, read the module link I gave you for your sound card from top to bottom, as there are certain things you must do to get things to work.
