Compiling a Kernel with SATA

After about 6 hours of strugle I have decd to give up and ask for help.

I am trying to compile a kernel with integrated suport for my Western Digital 200GB hard drive. (no Raid)

The SATA is integrated onto my Asus K8 SE motherboard.

SATA worked under fedora but it wasn't using libata.

Any insight?
