Compatibility of Wireless USB Hubs (not the type that runs over network)
I'm considering purchasing a wireless USB hub so I can do my gaming/other stuff on a TV without stringing cords across my living room. I am considering something similar to these:
Belkin Wireless USB Hub (Model No. F5U301) http://cache-www.belkin.com/support/...301_manual.pdf IOGEAR Wireless USB Hub and Adapter Kit (Model No. GUWH204KIT) http://www.iogear.com/support/manual/GUWH204KIT.pdf I did a little searching on the topic and what I'm coming up with is a slightly different device, where it uses your wireless network to complete the connect. The above products don't use your wireless network, the consist of a small USB device that plugs into your computer and USB hub device that are paired to each other. I figured they would come paired and you just plug-n-play but that doesn't seem to be the case; you have to pair them on the computer. So my question is: does anyone have this working on any distribution, and if so, how did you do it to work? Thanks. |
You are using the wrong words maybe to search.
You want USB over ethernet (or IP) I think. Sample site but many other ways exist. http://www.digi.com/products/usb/anywhereusb.jsp http://www.usb-over-network.com/ |
No, the products I've listed above specifically do not use any type of IP/ethernet connection, or any typical network connection. They consist of a USB hub and a USB stick that are paired to each other using the software provided by the company (similar to blue tooth pairing).
