Reading that the cmi8738 chipset has "Perfect Linux support," I went and bought a 7.1 soundcard with this chipset. However, with the snd-cmipci module provided with my kernel (2.6.12), there is no rear output, and it seems only one application is able to use the card at a time. Any insights?

EDIT: I'm using Alsa.
