CMD 0649 IDE controller

hi, i have a cmd pci 0649 ide controller, which works great in mdk 9.2, i have 2hdd's and 2 cd drives attached and i can use them all. i have come to install mdk 10 pro pack, and it will not detect it. i presume because kernel support has been remove or soething, but other linux distro's such as fedora core 2 which has kernel 2.6 will still support it, i just need some help on how i can use this card, as i dont wonna drop back to msk 9.2

regards
gav
