Question Cisco Wireless

I have reveiwed several of the wireless questions listed in this forum and have set/fixed any mistakes that I noticed.
wit that being said... here goes.

I have on an HP 6000 Omnibook;
Redhat 8 with a built in ethernet (eth0) and a Cisco 350 PCMCIA card (eth1).

The PC card will activate as will the Lan port. (Both used to work when I was using Lindows) Now I can only get the Lan pot to transmit data.

The pc card will activate, I can ping out and get a network present (as apposed to a notwork not present message) result that pings out but does not find a host.

My essid is set and I am not using enc.

ps I am showing the aero_cs is loaded..

Any help is greatly appreciated..

thanks

The link looks good, the essid is solid, and you have network connectivity in some way, so it looks like something goofy on the networking level, not the wireless one.

1. IP, what's the IP of the wireless device?

ifconfig eth1 192.168.0.23 up

2. route to the gateway...

route add default gw 192.168.0.1

3. nameservers:

echo "nameserver 123.123.123.123" > /etc/resolv.conf

That should get you a clean route out on any network, unless the wireless router itself is confused.

Cheers,

Actually I tried your suggestions with moderate success. I finally achieved the total solution by using the ACU from Cisco.. However unless I runthat util first I cannot use the card. There has to be a better way. Thanks again for your help.. It has been invaluable in getting this far.

:-)
