ihave the cisco 300m adapter (asix ax88772 chipset) and i can't get it to work. ifconfig shows it as registered, ethtool shows the proper settings (ip, netmask etc.). everything looks right but it won't communicate. it works on a WIN-xp box so i don't think the device is broken. i can ping it in terminal, so the system knows its there but i can't ping it from another box or ping from it to another computer (using a cross-over cable).

i'm running ubuntu 12.04 on an old lenovo thinkcentre. i have an onboard ehternet connection which works fine. any help would be greatly appreciated.

ok, for reasons i do not understand, the cisco adapter started working. have no clue why it didn't work or what magic made it start working. if anyone has any wisdom on either i would appreciate it because there is no telling when it will go back to not working.
