choice for gaming desktop pc nvidia or ati?

i got suse 9.0 installed, really happy with the GUI and Yes, I am one of those guys who moved to the linux platform. I like games, big fat 3d shooting games. Right now i use a NVIDIA 440MX thats a 64 MB CARD and it does the job. But I want bigger, better. What do you guys think i need to buy? Well no, the FBI mainframe is not an option. I need some serious and useful tips. I have got a maximum of 100 euro's to spend and i don't know what to choose?

ATI or NVIDIA
the compatibility (which dont seem to be a problem, but if so, tell me)
ddr of single RAM? How much ram do i need?

I run a 2.4 pentium, 540 MB ddram. Monitor is an old one, there yet wont come a new one. :(

I want to run games like AA and Unreal in at least 1024 by 768 in full modus.

2nd monitor would be handy, not neccesary. It must have a svideo out.

What do you have got? Are you satisfiet?

Please tell me!

thnx Bas

best bet is nVidia. The heavilly support linux and release drivers on a regular basis that simply work. ATI on the other hand, has flaky support at best. They make great Winows drivers, but their linux drivers simply don't perform well..

NVidia is the way to go.

Bear in mind, there are other companies that make graphics cards that use the nvidia chipset.

just don't get an ati.
