Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Checking an hardware issue on a keyboard

Hello everyone,

I have recently installed Ubuntu 20.10 amd64 on a refurbished computer.
The hardware is a Lenovo ThinkPAD t440P.

Some keys of the keyboard are not working, as the numbers line of key above the letters keys, and the F keys above.

I try to understand if this issue is due to the hardware, or something else as a non installed Driver.

Would anyone have a trick to check it?

Try a live USB from a different distro and see it the issue is the same. If it is then take the laptop back to the seller as defective.

The fact that it is refurbished makes me wonder WHY?
Two rows of keys seems a definite hardware issue.
