Check 3D accel.

Well so far I've seen people say they can't get it to work, some say how you can and some say there is no way,
I'm showing the the opengl is ati and direct rendering is yes
===============================================
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: RADEON 9600 XT Generic
OpenGL version string: 1.3 (X4.3.0-3.7.6)
===============================================
direct rendering: Yes
===============================================

Now I am getting extremely poor quality video in UT Q3 you name it.
Is there away to check that for sure 3D accel is working.
Also any idea's on how to fix the poor quality would be greatly appreciated.

You can do a basic check by running glxgears and checking the FPS.

Also, what are some of your other system specs? If it's a pentiun III with 64MB of memory, or something, then you'll have poor quality in UT Q3, I think.

lol if those were my specs I wouldn't even atempt launching the game
I can run them under windows flawlessly and awesome crisp running graphics.

have a P4 2.79 GHZ
ASUS P4P800-D
1GB RAM PC3200
60, 20, 15 HDD's
ati 9600XT 256

yah I can run the gears and its around
12663 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2532.600 FPS

I think I just need to play around with the fglrxconfig and the XF86config
