"chatting" with USB


hello...
I am projecting a ribbon controller systhetised from linux, but I was thinking about some buttons with programable functions... but, there is a problem.. I realy have no idea how to contact with a periferal... maybe this post should be on "newbie" but.....
well ... for lots of reasons sometimes this is necessary, and in this case, I need to get information (bit I supose) from a USB periferl ...
how can I have it

You want to monitor traffic on a USB port?

Have a look at the file Documentation/usb/usbmon.txt

in the Linux kernel source.

well I don't kown in tecnical words what exacly I want... but with newbie words is something like a comunication, receive and send information from and to a periferal... anyway thanks a lot

It sounds like you want a driver for your peripheral. Writing drivers is pretty much a job for experts. But there are some things for user-level access to USB ports also. See e.g.

yes at all i don't know how can i program drivers, althogh I think it is with asemble, and I don't know it... sadly... but I belive i don't need it, I only need to receive the information sended from the periferal, althogh I'll need assemble to program micropocessor
