Changing power supplies
Hello:
My question is not directly related to Linux. I am trying to change my CPU's power supply. I bought a new "ANTEC NEO HE V2.2 430 Watt" power supply. When I try to power up, the fan over the processor starts to run for 1 or 2 seconds and then the whole machine turns off. Before buying the ANTEC power supply, I was using a cheap 300 Watt ATX power supply PSIV-400-2 from "Taiwan Youngyear electronics Co. Ltd". Since the ANTEC power supply I bought is 430 Watt, I was thinking that there would be enough power to run my computer.
Some information about my machine from /proc/cpuinfo:
I am running an AMD Athlon processor (1095MHz) and the mother board I am using is K7S5A from EliteGroup.
I emailed ANTEC's customer service and I got the following response:

You may not be meeting the minimum load requirements for the power supply. Each rail requires 1 amp of load to stay running. Also, you may be using an ASUS board that has difficulty with 2.2 power supplies.

I am a bit at lost as it is my 1st time changing the power supply of my CPU. Is there anything special I should know about power supplies ? If someone else has any experience about changing power supplies I would appreciate any comments.
Thanks
Richard
