changing hard drive location

Hi

Ive been doing a few upgrades to me computer and in the process ive moved the main drive which has redhat installed to a different location. Previously it was plugged into the primary port of ide1. I have moved it to the built in highpoint controller on my motherboard and set the bios to boot from this drive, however linux refuses to boot. I think i can change some grub settings to make it use this drive in the new location but im not sure which one. Grub is currently set to "root (hd0,0)" which im guessing i need to change, but how do i find out what the new location of the drive is?

thanks
Simon

Well most likely you'll need to also edit and change your fstab file, which tells your system where to mount each partition, etc.

Thanks. I figured it out myself eventually. My main problem was that I didnt know the actual name of the drive/partitions, ie, when they were on the normal ide interface it was hda1/2/3 etc. Using fdisk i found out it was actually hde1/2/3 and changed fstab and my grub conf accordingly.

thanks
Simon.
