CentOS 5.2 wont recognize nics from Supermicro server

I just installed CentOS 5.2 on a mini Atom server and it wont recognize the nics. Not sure what kind they are, think they are Intel. (built in)

It's the first time this has happened to me. Where do I start to get it to recognize the nics? Normally it works out of the box.

Hi -

It sounds like it might be an Intel board. The on-board NICs have *never* worked for me on Windows until I installed the Intel drivers.

SUGGESTION:
1. Get your motherboard model#
2. Visit the vendor's web site
3. Check for any Linux drivers they might have

PS:
Perhaps you can use a PCI or a USB NIC until you find the appropriate drivers to get the on-board NICs working.

PPS:
If this is indeed an Intel motherboard, you should be in luck. Intel is very strong in their support for Linux.

Yeah I think it's Intel, I will have to double check. how does a linux driver work, is it just like installing any other program, so I'd download the file do ./configure and so on?

Just got the Intel e1000 driver and it was a brease to install. Glad to know that Intel has good support for Linux. The Intel stuff tends to be quite solid. I may buy a dual or quad nic in the future when I build a SAN.

Oh and this is the server:

It's a nice little box. Using it as a controller for an old fiber channel SAN.
