CentOS 4.2 sees both disks in RAID array on IBM x346 server

CentOS 4.2, IBM x346 server with onboard Adaptec 7902 controller

We have built a 2-disk hardware RAID array (RAID-1) using the Adaptec SCSI BIOS utilities and went on to install CentOS 4.2.

At the partitioning stage there was a big surprise - CentOS saw both sda and sdb.

Just for testing we put the Windows setup disk in and it recognized the array normally. We have tried some IBM's disk that boots off ISOLinux and it also recognized the array, not each member separately.

I saw some BIOS patches + firmware on IBM's site:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...cid=MIGR-62540

but all this is very confusing.

Does anyone have any experience with this issue, and is there a way to patch BIOS or something for the CentOS to properly display the array instead of displaying both sda and sdb during setup?
