CDRW won't mount audio CDs

I'm using FC3. When I put a data disk in the CDROM (an Asus CDRW), for example Disk 4 of the Fedora install, it sees the files fine.
If I put in an audio CD, I get the following:
Quote:

/dev/hdd: Input/output error
mount: block device /dev/hdd is write-protected, mounting read-only
/dev/hdd: Input/output error
mount: /dev/hdd: can't read superblock
Please check that the disk is entered correctly.
This happens with any audio CD I try.
What do I need to do to correct this?

Nothing, you don't mount Audio CD's.

You can rip files, or you can play it with a CD playing program. but you can't mount it.

Note:
Konq can pretend to mount it, if you put audiocd:/ in the address bar

D'oh!

OK. Thanks for your help.
For some reason KsCD isn't playing CDs and I figured that was the issue. I'll keep digging.

Check out this article Listen to music with KsCD, has hints about common problems.

Thanks very much. I found that the CD was muted. I had checked the volume, but since mythTV was working fine I must have glossed over the CD. (note to self - smarten up).

Thanks for your help.
