can you help me? my computer is originally has no cdrom installed in it, so i installed one and connect it to my motherboard and in the power plug, it seems running 'coz the indicator lights of the cdrom is blinking, but when i load a disk and tried to open the contents of the cd in my cdrom icon these words just prompted out "SPECIAL DEVICE/DEV/SCDO DOES NOT EXIST" did i connect it to the wrong plugs? does my cdrom not functioning right? did i click the wrong command in the icon? or is it just not compatible to my motherboard?

trish_22,
You should really start your own thread. Especially rather than resurrecting such an old one...
First, is the CD-ROM an ATAPI-IDE or SCSI one?
Second, what Linux distribution are you using?
Third, what do you mean by "tried to open the contents of the cd in my cdrom icon" ?
Get the answers to these questions and start your own thread. Either in the forum for your distribution, or in the Hardware forum.

Trish, I have moved your post into it's own thread - you are more likely to get answer that way.
