CDROM problems
I have a 56X CDROM that is giving me trouble. I just got it the other day. I installed SuSE using it, then later, after listening to a cd, I shut my box off and put in a network card(Dlink 220 ISA). I booted back up and started installing a game from the SuSE cd. It froze on me, so I turned it off, and booted back up. I tried mounting several different cds (burnt and OEM), but I kept getting a 'no medium found' error. argh.. So I changed the channel it was on(from primary to secondary) and set it as master. Didnt work. so I changed cables and tried again. Nothing. So I figured maybe it was the lens, so I cleaned the lens, and still no change. So I put it in another box, and it still didnt work. argh. What else could it be?

How old is it? Is there a chance to give it back? It seems to be broken.

It isnt incredibly old, but it came with a machine I bough from a guy on ebay (K6-2 400, 128MB ram, 15 GB hdd, 10/100 NIC, SB16)for $100 canadian, so I doubt hes going to do anything for me.

Try it with more machines. But I think it's just broken...
