cdrecord - trying to use high speed medium on low speed writer

hi, i am trying to burn a multisession rewritable cd and i am getting the following errror: "trying to use high speed medium on low speed writer". i searched the net and this means that i am having an old cd-writer (which i know its true=matshita ujda710 - rw speed=4x) and i am trying to copy high speed cds (also true).; and this cannot be done due to some differences. so i tried with some other rewritable cds i have that were succesfully used under windows xp for writing. they are also high speed ones 4x-10x. but why can they be rewritten under xp and not under linux?

I'm having the same sort of problem, except that my CD writer is actually a high-speed drive using high-speed media. Apparently the drive isn't being recognized as high-speed.

I wrote the disc using the -force option to cdrecord (under k3b. I can't seem to find where to add command-line options with xcdroast at the moment), and it wrote it without complaining.

Hope this helped a little.
