cdburner crapped out

My burner just crapped out on me.Was writing a cd that refuses to get out of the burner now.
The bios can't find anything on the second ide channel anymore.
I think about connecting it to the first channel now to see whether the burner or the mobo is screwed.Anybody has some idea if that might detonate the contoller totally if something from the burner screwed up the secound channel?

Not sure, maybe it just burnt out completely or something, have you checked your cables?, smell any smoke hahha?

Sorry it's a serious matter, you can take the chance and connect it to your first channel to see if it works, if it crapps up again, you might need new cables or something...

Sorry i'm not really a hardware guy...

Hi crashmeister, I had a burner crippled out on me but I was able to use it as a regular CD-ROM device afterwards. I don't think CD-burner can mae a boo-boo to your system, what can be a pain in the back side is PSU, check if it is OK.

Sorry - a little late.Didn't have a great week so far.Right after posting my internet connection died for two days.
The cdburner mysteriously started working again after a second reboot.I think my bios has some issues.
Thanks anyway.
