CD spin down for knoppix
 

I'm using knoppix now quiet often. The only thing I don't like is that the cd spins down after 1minute or so. I want to extend the spindown time. Or, even better, if it is possible ... to spin down only to let's say 24x so that there is not too much noise and that the spin up time is shorter (do you call it spin up????)

Have you considered the boot cheatcodes. i.e. toram

yes I did.
I have 768MB RAM and even that is not enough to boot knoppix toram. It just freezes during boot

Other than the toram option there's the "poor mans install".

You can reduce the spin with 'hdparm -E <speed>'

ok you can reduce the spin with hdparm but can you increase the spin down spin so that it is always spinning at 8x or 16x when in idle or how do you say it.
