CD-RW/DVD-ROM Partial Recognition

I have a Mad Dog DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive (Model No. MD-5216CDR) installed as my master drive. I have FC2, but it only recognizes it as a DVD-ROM/CD-ROM. It doesn't recognise it as an RW. Is there any way I can solve this? 'Cause the only reason I still have FC2 instead of FC3 is I can't burn the isos! I'm a newbie, so use small words. :)

Welcome to LQ. Have you actually attempted to do any burning? If so, what app did you use, and what were the results? -- J.W.

Yeah, the way I found out was when I tried to burn the isos with K3b, and when I went to burn, it wouldn't let me because it doesn't think I have a burner. Oh, and one other thing I forgot to mention, (not sure if it makes a difference, but better safe than sorry) I use KDE.
