CD ROM ERROR "folder contents cant be displayed"


Hi,

Im a recent windoze refugee, so please bare with me.
Cant view any cd or dvd i put in even after mounting, i understand that i need to alter the "/etc/fstab" file which will be posted at the bottom.
I have been reading previous threads about this subject but still cannot resolve my situation....please help.

amd athlon 2100
pc2100 640mb ddr
ati radeon 8500 128mb
40 gb wd hdd
memorex dvd/cd rom
fic an11 stealth momboard
linux suse 10.0
kernel 2.6.13
gnome 2.12

Try adding a line "/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom iso9660 noauto,owner". /dev/cdrom is a symlink to for example /dev/scd0 if that's your first available SCSI-IDE CD-writer, /mnt/cdrom is the directory it should mount on, may have to make it. For explanation of options see "man mount".

Please forgive me for being a newbie Linux user.
i have tried finding ways to edit "fstab" but to no avail..
just for good measure..when i try to go to the /dev/cdrecorder it says not permitted. mount procedure i use is "mount /dev/cdrecorder"
"mount /media/cdrecorder"
the cd drive pops up on the desk top as a CD but thats where i get to the previous post.....probably shouldave posted this before..dunno
as i said i am only four days into SUSE i love everything so far aside from this minor setback.

thanks for the help.
