I have a problem with my CD burner that I am pretty sure is operator error, but I can't think what the error might be!
I am running Mandriake 9.2 with kernel 2.4.22-10mdk and using KDE as my desktop. I have a CD burner mounted at /mnt/cdrom and a DVD player at /mnt/crdom2. When I installed Linux a couple of months ago, both worked correctly. A few weeks ago I tried to install to install a RPM from my distro, the computer did not recognize that there was a disk in the CD. I can still burn CDs, play music, rip CDs.on the CD burner. Cannot read any files from any CD inserted into drive or install RPMs from it. FYI, I inserted an installation CD from my distro and rebooted, my machine went through the motions normally. I can't imagine what I could have changed in any of my settings that would cause the malfunction. However, I am a REAL newbie (as opposed to a person listed as a newbie but is able to write their own kernel) so there is no telling.
I'm sorry if I have not given specific enough info. I'm new at this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
