CD-R windows format vs linux

I'm running RH8- I have several data CD's (movies) that I recorded before my switch to linux. Some of these are playable through linux but others simply don't register as readable cds. I will mount the cd-rom drive and open the folder but it's completely empty.

Is there a windows burning file format that is unrecognizable in linux? Thanks.

maybe those cd's weren't finalized...
how did you browse those cd's? in GUI? it sometimes doesn't view filenames with free soaces...try browsing in command line (cd /mnt/cdrom ; ls) and see if there are any files...

all worked before

I don't know if that would be the problem. All of the disks work through windows- I can actually stream movies over the network via a windows cd drive to my linux box....but that's not the point. I wanna be able to directly access these disks.
