What application are you using to play the CD?

If you do not have an audio cable connected between the drive and sound card then you need a player app that uses digital audio extraction like the latest version of xmms.

I am using the cdrom to play it off my pc thats hooked to the pc speakers ... i have tryed using xmms i have manged it to read from the cd and it shows the trach using the cd player plugin in its prefference but their is no sound (the volume is UP) it shows that its playing but no sound i have tryed using different sound drivers in xmms but that did not make a difference .. the one that i was trying to play the cd in before was kscd

xine works for me
with no cd audio line
jus open xine and click on the cd button on the xine interface, the disk should spin up staight away and start playing

Try this . . .

As a test . . .

Plug either headphones or your speakers into the jack on your CD drive when it is playing your music CD. Do you get music then?
