CD/DVD/DVDR Drive Woes :(
Greetings. I have just installed a new DVD+/-R+/-RW drive (IDE). I currently have another standard DVD drive Installed (IDE) as well as a USB CD-R/RW. My BIOS detects all of my drives successfully at POST and in the probing screen that follows. When Linux boots (IDE), however, NONE of my drive are detected much less mounted. I don't want to start arbitrarily mounting because I don't even know if the kernel has probed any devices at all. I'm quite certain my auto mounting daemons are working correctly. I so not know if 2.4.22 has integrated support for my DVDR but I don't know why that should stop it from detecting the other drives. I have IDE-SCSI emulation on.
Is there anyway to force linux to probe my devices again to see if they are detected? My system specs are as follows:
AMD Athlon @ 1.333GHz
Slackware 9.1
Kernel version 2.4.22 (not sure what revision)
Sony DVD+/-R+/-RW Model DRU-510AK IDE
Sony DVD (ro) Not sure what model but very standard IDE DVD
Iomega ZipCD650 CD-R/RW USB (1.1)
WD 120GB 7200rpm IDE
Iomega Zip100 (IDE)
The standard DVD is a slave to the DVDRW both using the second IDE bus. The ZIP is a slave to the HDD. Kooky setup I know but it had to be done because of IDE cable constraints. However, I don't believe any of this setup to be a problem because like I said before the BIOS successfully probed all drives.
Thank you in advance for your help
