Card Video Driver
Hi ppl,
I'm having some trouble on the search for the correct driver to my video card, an Intel Chipset. In the HP site, I can only find the driver in the windows format, and I can't find any other proper linux file on the Intel or Nvidia webpages, althougth I know they provide it. Could you help me downloading the correct file? The properties from my video card and the webpages I said are below. Thanks! Code:
root@tairo:/home/tairo# lspci http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...roduct=3979340 My computer is a Hp Pavillion Dv4-1465dx. |
Please post the output of:
Code:
# lspci -v |
Thanks for the help, brucehinrichs!
The results of the lspci in verbose mode were like that: Code:
root@tairo:/home/tairo# lspci -v |
A quick search turned up this. You have to register to download, but it looks like it is free. The link is from Intel's 'Embedded Design Center'. Not sure if this is the correct driver, as I am unfamiliar with this chipset. Maybe someone else on the forum can confirm or deny...
EDIT: It looks like the kernel module you need is intel-agp (hope this helps) |

Brucehinrichs, I registered in the site and clicked on the Download tab, but I have to choice one model of architeture to my chipset from a list. I have no idea the one of them that fits my hardware.
I'll post the options avaible here, so you can help me getting the solution. Thanks again! PS: I only used internet explorer to browse the site and replyed this post on windows because I'm at work now! I ansewered you before on my lunch time :) |
You might also look here. It's conflicting information, and it pertains to LinuxMint, but might help. After reading this I'm not so sure the intel-agp is the correct module, specifically:

EDIT: Just found this. |
Slackware ships with the open source drivers for your GPU. Is there some reason you think you need to install something else?

You might learn more...
As adamk75 writes, you do not need the Intel driver. However, if you use the command "lshw", you may find more information on your graphics chip to further your search. See man lshw. |
Ok, I think I was wrong with the driver. Maybe the problems I'm facing with 3D are not the driver's fault. Anyway, thanks for all the help and information!
And, for sure, I really need to learn more. That's why I'm with Slackware by now. :) |
If you tell us what problems you're facing, we might be able to help you further.
