Card & Fingerprint Readers on Linux Fedora

Hello,

A medical client of mine has these devices that are running perfectly well on WinXP:
OTI Global Saturn 6000
Digital Persona 4500 Fingerprint Reader

He's wanting to shift to Linux but the supplier for these products says they will not work and the only way he can do is to have WinXP sitting on Linux using maybe Virtualbox and really he's not ready to go through the hassle of having one OS on another and then having to load WinXp just for this.

I'm wondering if anyone has managed to get any of these devices working on Linux and if anyonce can share any ideas on how to go about getting them to work with Linux.
Looking at the software/drivers for Windows, I see there's .NET framework involved.

First see if maybe Linux already supports them. Try to boot use Ubuntu by running it from the Live CD. I think there is an option to run it from the CD/DVD without installing it.
Also try Knoppix Live CD.
