Cant use my viewsonic LCD VP171s

dear everyone, i am a newer to Linux. Before I installed SUSE 9.0 pro. it was fine and worked greatly. Although I could not find the model viewsonic VP171s. I turned monitor setting to LCD 1280*1024 60Hz.
recently i bought suse9.1 pro, it just never take this monitor setting at all. i cannot pass graphic mode but text only. I want to ask is: can i export the monitor driver from suse 9.0pro and install it to the suse 9.1pro? if it is possible, could here someone kindly tell me which directory stored monitor driver? or in which disc ?
many thanks!!!
