Can't browse kindle fire 2's files in kubuntu
Hello, I got a new kindle fire (non hd). My laptop dual boots kubuntu 12.10 64 bit and windows 7.

When I plug in my kindle via usb, I can browse its files in windows but not in kubuntu. Dmesg shows it's detected but that's it. No sdb1 partition or anything for me to use.

How do I transfer stuff back and forth in kubuntu to my kindle fire?

Thank you

I am running Thunar daemon and udiskie and that ensures all flash drives are auto mounted. I have a Kindle Fire and no issue here.

Depends on the model but your Kindle Fire may use the MTP protocol which means it can not be used like a mass storage device. From what little information I can find on the web it seems like miro is the application. Any libmtp based application like gphoto typically used to transfer pictures from a camera may work too.

I do not own a Fire so hopefully others with actual experience will hopefully respond.

Ya, in windows it shows up as a media device. I will try gphoto or similar later today and report back --thanks
