Canon S450 Printer

Ok well i have a canon s450 printer which is parallel and usb.

i have no clue where to start to install it.
I have checked linuxprinting.com or .org and it says it does work under linux.

This is my dmesg

hub.c: USB new device connect on bus2/1, assigned device number 2
usb.c: USB device 2 (vend/prod 0x4a9/0x105d) is not claimed by any active driver.
usb.c: USB disconnect on device 2

some one please help me figure out how to get this thing working.

I remember i had gotten it working in mandrake and/ or knoppix but it had the gui tools and stuff to configure it. Right now im using gentoo so it comes bare with nothing adn i dont remember the names of those programs.
