Canon printer and Linux drivers

Hi, I have just binned a Lexmark printer and need to get a new one, I am considering buying a Canon IP1900 printer and need to know if it will work with Ubuntu 9.4.

Thanks in advance for any help

This printer is not listed here -->http://www.openprinting.org/printers For me, this is the authority on linux printing. Check this site out before you buy. There is very good support today for HP, Epsom, Brother. I would also check the support on the manufactures web site, before you buy.

HP is especially good for supporting Linux.

I would stay away from Canon if you are wanting to use linux. You can find drivers for a lot of models with gutenprint. As mentioned above, HP has pretty good support for linux and Lexmark has just recently started supporting Linux. Have a look here:

I have a canon printer and am able to print with it just fine, however print quality is no where near what the printer is capable of using the gutenprint drivers. But I can print, so I guess I'm happy with it. My next printer will be HP or lexmark

Thanks for your thoughts it will help when choosing a new printer. The Lexmark printers are the worst on the market when it comes to re-inking or even normal printing because the print heads become clogged so easily, I have been told this by a few people from places like Cartridge World.

Any thoughts on how easy it is to re-ink a HPDJ1660 inkjet printer?

If you search Google using "ink-jet refill", you find lots of info on what's possible. Here is my current supplier:
