Canon Drivers available from Canon
 

This is such a relief, I just purchased a Canon i550 printer and was having to maybe go back to Windows since my Printer wouldn't work properly, then I decided to google around a bit and found that Canon is now supplying drivers for some of their printers in Linux, and Unix systems.

Hopefully this is a good sign that some hardware vendors are coming on board

<<Edit>>For my i550 in Red Hat I use the driver for a BJC-7004 Photo using the Omni driver and my Canon i550 prints well using this combination. Forgot to mention this in my Thread sorry for any confusion. <<Edit>>

I was looking at an i550 recently, and like the ink arrangement of C,Y,M,B in separate cartridges. The website in the above post appears oriented towards Canon's ImageRunner series, which are business products.

There's a big difference between the i550 (which I might still buy) and the iR series. We have a couple of iR330's and an iR5000 at the office. Good machines.

Still, it bodes well that Canon is recognizing the growing demand for Linux support.

Yes I am also hoping that this is a sign that Canon might start putting out drivers for their Printers other than just business class.
