Cannot use monitors on second graphics card

Hey guys. Newbie to linux here but nowhere near a newbie to computers. Firstly I'd like to thank you. The few odd things I got stuck with while setting up ubuntu on my laptop, Most of the google results turned up the answers here. After the good experience I had with it on my laptop I've decided to install it on my main PC. Now I have a little problem.

On my main PC I have 2 monitors. However each monitor is on a seperate graphics card (an nvidia Geforce 7900GTX and 6500). Just to make you aware, the reason I have a second card is that both of my monitors are VGA one of the analog outputs on the 7900GTX is damaged meaning everything on the screen is pink on the monitor connected to it (even at POST so its definately not software).

However the problem I have now is that I cannot use the monitor on my second card. I have installed the latest linux drivers manually from the nvidia website (version 177 i think). The nvidia X Server settings panel sees my second graphics card but not the monitor on it.

If its of any relevance, my second monitor is an old professional grade iiyama CRT.

Cheers
Adam

Are you trying to get one big desktop or two individual desktops?

Im trying to run it so they are registered to the x server as to seperate displays, like i have in windows. However the nvidia X drivers do not see the monitor however they do see the second graphics card.
