Cannot mount 2nd hard drive?
Ive got 2 hard drives connected to the same ribbon cable but linux does not see the HD on the end of the cable.
I have tried mounting and cfdisk but it does not see the HD.
What could I do to allow Linux to see it? I dont know the jumper settings though.

well did it partition correctly? That would be the first thing you should do. If you want to look at jumper settings it is simplest to set the old one to MASTER and new to SLAVE. The harddrive should have diagrams as to how to arrange the pins to set this. Do you have another ribbon cable so you can add it to a different IDE controller? Also check to make sure it isnt defective. Visit the manufactures website and download the utility that will tell you if the harddrive is working properly.

check the output of "fdisk -l". That will return all your harddisk info, as well as there partitions. If you dont know what your looking at, or get the awnser from it, please just paste the output and I will explain it.

also, if "fdisk -l" doesnt return anything about the seccond drive, run "dmesg | grep hd" and paste what you get.

Also check during the POST (just in case: this is, when the machine starts but before the OS is loaded) that the HD is detected.
