Angry Cannot Install Mandrake10.1 from LG CDROM

I run the Mandrake 10.1 Boot CD to install. The installation software starts successfully, but then comes up with error : No CDROM device found. It will not continue with the installation past this point.

When I OK the error message it comes up with a notice that I must insert a floppy with additional drivers.

I have only one CDROM drive on my computer - LG CD R/W DVD Combo. (IDE\CDROMHL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4520B)

The BIOS is configured to use the CDROM drive as first option to boot from.

The MandrakeMove2 CD runs perfectly though !!

Desperate to do full installation, please assist.

I had a similar occurrence installing mandrake 10.1 on my dell dimension 8400. I had to change the drive setting in bios from RAID/AHCI to RAID/ATA, and then it read my cd-rom just fine. I never figured out what the one had to do with the other.

Fixed it !

I make use of a 80GB SATA hard drive.

I had to change settings in my BIOS for the computer to access both hard drive and CD-ROM drive.

Settings in BIOS :
Integrated Peripherals - On-Chip IDE Configuration
On-Chip ATA(s) Operate Mode (Native)
ATA Configuration (P-ATA only)
S-ATA Keep Enabled (Yes)

I further had to disable USB Legacy Support in the BIOS as I make use of an USB Wireless keyboard and mouse.

The installation process went smooth after this.
