Cannot install logitek USB mouse on SUSE v9.3

I am a RAW Linux beginner. I had SUSE v9.3 loaded onto an old Dell Inspiron 3800 noteboook, without a mouse. I later tried to install a Logitek USB type "Pilot Wheel Mouse" using the YaST2 installer, but nothing seems to work. After following all the "instructions" along the way, including entering the Administrator mode, the mouse pointer just sits there. Fortunately the computer's built-in track pad works fine, but it is awkward to use with no mouse.

This mouse is listed on a SUSE hardware compatibility website as being a fully compatible device, and the system seems to detect the mouse when it is plugged in. However, the SUSE YaST2 installer does not even inculde this mouse in its selection list. In fact, there are only three Logitek mice listed, which surprises me.

All the applications and other odds and ends seem to work OK, and I am beginning to get my "feet wet" in the Linux world, but without a mouse it is painful.

Any suggestions

Ed
