Cannot install Belkin 11mbps F5D6020 wireless card on redhat linux 9.0

Hi everyone,
I have just installed redhat linux 9.0 on my toshiba laptop. Everything works fine, except for my wireless card. It is a Belkin 802.11b Wireless Notebook Network Card for the laptop. The model name is F5D6020. Belkin doesn't have drivers for linux. I have searched on google about this case and received answers, but its not clear enough. I'm kind of new to linux, so could someone please tell me in a detailed way. I think, it cannot install it, because the pcmcia card cannot receive power at startup of redhat. So please solve problem quick. thanks.

try this site. If it dosen't seem to work, search for ATMEL chip drivers for wireless cards. The drivers are more chip specific than manufacturer specific.

good luck

I also had problems setting up this card under RH9 and Mandrake 9.2. A great thread to get a newbie started is this one:

I am still having a few interesting issues with this card. I am going to post in Hardware and see if anyone can help me solve it, as I've done everything I can think of to do. However, if it makes you feel better, I am using that Belkin F5D6020 ver 2 card to enter this post. :)

By the way, you need to make sure that your card is an F5D6020 version 2 (or ver. b) card, as Belkin switched the chipset from version 1 using the prism chipset, to an atmel chipset, which most Linux distros don't like right away. Read that thread and most of your problems will be solved.

I checked that site that burnpile posted. It actually looks pretty darn informative. the /etc/pcmcia/wireless.opts file looks like it will solve my card's boot up problems. I'm going to make sure it is configured correctly tonight and post the results tomorrow, I hope.
