cannot detect audiophile 2496 using redhat 9
Hello. I am a newbie. I installed redhat 8 and just installed redhat 9 in the hope it would help. I have an SIS sound card that came with my Sony Vaio and a PCI audiophile 2496. I downloaded the Alsa driver but honestly, I need to start from gound zero. soundconfig only recognizes the SIS card. My distro is 2.4.20-8. And lspci is:

Please help. I am getting close to giving in and going back to Windows. Thanks. |
don't have a lot of time, but hope this helps.
i've never had my card autodetected by any distro (i have an audiophile as well). You'll probably have to play around w/ your alsa config files. You need to be using the ice1712 chipset (check the alsa web site for details on installing it, it shouldn't be hard) maybe even try a modprobe ice1712 and see what happens=). assuming that works, use envy24control (in alsa-tools?) as a mixer. good luck! |
