Cannot attach Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX2 to openSuSE 10.3

Hello,

I have a Lumix DMC-LX2 and openSuSE 10.3 installed. On openSuSE 10.2 the camera worked just very fine together with digikam.
When I plugin the camera now, the system detects a USB MassStorage Device but then fails to "mount" it or to access it.

dmesg | tail gives the following
usb 1-4: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 3
usb 1-4: new device found, idVendor=04da, idProduct=2372
usb 1-4: new device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0
usb 1-4: Product: DMC-LX2
usb 1-4: Manufacturer: Panasonic
usb 1-4: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
Initializing USB Mass Storage driver...
scsi4 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
usb-storage: device found at 3
usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning
usbcore: registered new interface driver usb-storage
USB Mass Storage support registered.
VMBlock warning: DentryOpRevalidate: invalid args from kernel
VMBlock warning: DentryOpRevalidate: invalid args from kernel

I can only access the camera if I attach it at boot time, then it is recognized as scsi device and I can mount this one and access via browser/filesystem. As soon as I start up digikam it fails again to access the camera.

I have a Asus M2N4-SLI board with AMD64 and I have the same problem running openSuSe 32 or 64bit.

Thanx for help.

more details

Hello!

I googled on the internet and thought it might be a hardware problem. I have a USB2.0 PCI card which I putted into one slot and disabled the onboard USB controller. No changes detected.

Could somebody tell me, how I get more "error" information from the USB system and how the USB mounting is performed?

I also have a lot of problems attaching my cellphone to the computer and synchronize it. With the PCI USB card it works but it's very very slow (the processors at 100% usage)... I really don't know what my system is doing...

thanx for help

Hello,

it seems that I have the same pb. Do you think it is an hardware pb ? I have a P5K Asus motherboard. Or maybe it is only related to the 10.3 version ? I just changed my motherboard, with the old one I was able to mount my USB key, now I can't mount this key neither the Lumix ...

Have you an idea of what appends ?

Dav.

no I do not think it's a hardware problem. as described in my second post I inserted my PCI USB 2.0 card which makes run the system the same...

so IF it is a hardware problem then it is most probably with the chip set.... my problem is I do not want to change the motherboard anymore for several reasons...

I will try to install a openSUSE 10.2 and see how the hardware works... if it works under 10.2 I'm sure it's not a hardware problem....

so it is definitely no hardware problem. I was able to install the openSUSE 10.2 on my machine and my lumix works perfect with digikam together...
