Please just ask your question rather than linking to an entire other set of threads on another website. What problem(s) are you having? -- J.W.

Sorry about that... The link was faulty anyway.
I have a Canoscan D1250U2 and I can't get it to work. Unfortunately I have not found any distro that list the model as supported. I am trying to migrate from windows 100% but I need all my hardware to work.

Other non-working hardware

Creative Web Cam Go
Dell SBLIVE 5.1 ( I tried all the ALSA ) OSS works put Xtremly poor quailty and must be activated at each boot. Never mind the license fee.

Conexant SmartHSFi V92 Fax Modem

Thanks again,,,,,,

Determined to Move from Windows , Suse 9.1 is my choice after trying many many others.

Your sound card probably needs Alsa 1.0.6 with the emu10k1x module. I am struggling with it myself, so I can't help much yet.
I guess your modem is an internal one, in that case go here: http://www.linuxant.com for driver. It costs a little money, but well worth it.
So about your scanner. Check with http://www.sane-project.org. Also make sure you have Sane-backends installed. Try to run scanimage -L in a root shell. If your scanner is listed then you should be happy. If now you can't get it to work from your own user it's probably a problem with file permissions. In the output of scanimage -L there is a file name, something like proc:bus:usb:002:003. So what I had to do was to change permissions to rw for all users. Do this as root and your going for this session. To make it permanent I had to put "chmod a+rw /proc/bus/usb/002/003" in /etc/rc.local. Also, I use Mandrake 10.1, Suse might be different...

Good luck,
Hans Petter
