Why the huge font??

I looked at "man mke2fs"---there is an option to check for bad blocks when formatting ext2 or ext3. The link below might be a place to start.

I removed the ridiculous size of that text...

I guarantee, knowing many of the posters here, that it will only annoy them and make them less likely to reply.... so consider it a favor.

Most disk makers have a bootable CD available that will do that. Well, the equivalent anyway, as drives are no longer "low level" formatted.
