Can SME server or CentOS server use the 1Tb or 1.5 Tb sata hard drives?

i am going to set up a small file server soon. i want to use the largest hard drives i can find since i don't want more than one server running 24/7. does sme or centos use sata drives in the 1tb range?

sorry for the question but i can't afford much. going to be getting piece by piece soon. just need to know if it will work before i buy and find out i wasted cash i don't have..

what i am looking at doing is getting a mini systemboard and setting up a mini tower. i have looked into the shuttle barebones but that looks like its 50/50 that the hardware is any good.. its just going to be a file server so its not going to be high graphics or high end sound.. just whats on the board. processor is what ever i can find. want a dual core. don't really care if intel or amd at this point. (i prefer intel. never had an amd though.. ) lots of ram. 2 to 4 gigs. nothing fancy.

just as an added thought. would the freenas support sata drives?

would be greatful for any info.

thanx

Your server software will handle the 1 terabyte or 1.5 terabyte drives without any problem. If you use dual core technology and SATA hard drives this is current technology.

I have 1 and 1.5 terabyte drives running on Ubuntu-Server with AMD64-X2 processors with no problems. I have used the BIOSTAR TFORCE TA780G M2+ AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G Micro ATX AMD Motherboard with great success on just such a server.

I have several some of which run Ubuntu-Server i86 and some AMD64.
