Can not print from browser to HP deskjet 870cse
 

I have an hp deskjet 870cse local printer. I printed good test pages and from open office, however, when I try to print from juno web mail, the browser closes and nothing is printed. Is this a driver or browser problem?

I use an 870Cse, and it prints fine from Firefox. It sounds like it might be a Juno problem. What distribution are you using, and have you applied all the outstanding maintenance?

At this time I am using suse linux 9.3. I have just updated all security patches using YOU. Juno did send a general email to all users alerting them to a bug with the latest release of MS internet explorer. Juno said they were addressing the issue to make it compatable with the latest release of IE. Is there a workaround for this type of printing problem?

You're running MS IE? Under WINE? If so, I'm not surprised you're having a problem. Can you save the document to a file and print it from another application?

Ok, my last post was confusing. I am using Firefox. After I read your first post, I tried another web site and printing was ok. The email from Juno warned users not to use the latest version of MS internet explorer due to a mutitude of bugs and an incompatablitity with Juno. I brought the subject up because as I read it, it looks like Juno is tweeking their software to be MS compatable. I personally prefer not to use IE.

OK that sounds more like a browser problem. Is your Firefox current (1.5.0.1)? Perhaps it's problem that has already been addressed.

I just checked my current version 1.0.7. Is the latest version more secure? While on the subject of browsers, I have been perplexed by my browser freezing. At that point I have to power down, then back up. It mostly happens while dragging the scroll bar after a session of browsing different web pages. It also froze while typing in a forum text box. It started happening after I installed the nvidia driver for the tnt2 card in my box. Performance was very stable with the stock linux 2d driver, prior to using the nvidia driver. Do the above symptoms suggest a cause and remedy? I installed the latest one using the YOU utility. Just guessing, could the system configuration file need manual updating? 3d works fine. I never had a problem playing tux racer. I also guessed a java script problem.

The latest (1.5.0.1) version is here. Prior to trying to hunt down a problem, it's always a good idea to check that your software is current. Check your print software (cups?) as well.

After grabbing the update, I checked the YOU update and it is older. Since my last YOU update was two days ago, the kernal, dependencies, ect. should be up to date.
