Can Not Mount CD-ROM

I have booted and loaded RedHat 7.2 via the CD-ROM on an Intel box. Linux is the only OS I have on the box.Once the software is installed I can mount the Floppy Drive but when I try to mount the CD-ROM, I get the following message:
Not A Valid Block Device

Any help would be great. Thanks
