Can an Intel Centrino run Linux???

Hi,

I want to buy a laptop but i want to have a centrino processor and i would like to tell me if Linux supports centrino processors because i don't want to have Windows. I have made this question because in Intel's site somewhere in the processor specifications writes next to centrino only Windows supported operating system.

Thank you

P.s.: I will be very huppy if i have a possitive answer.

Hi.

Yes Linux will run on a Centrino laptop. Centrino is just a Pentium M processor, an Intel motherboard and an Intel wireless card built in. There's nothing particularly special about it.

Have a look here: http://tuxmobil.org/centrino.html

well yes you can becuse there's nothing called centrino processor it is centrino technology which is collection of mobile P4 provessor, intel 855 or ... some chipset and intel wireless lan card. when all 3 of these intergrated then only it called as centrino technology. So most of the distros will support those features after the 2.6 kernel supporting wireles lan connevicity.
