Can't start x after NVIDIA driver installed

I use GeForce DDR with old monitor MicroScan 4V
"X-Windows was fine" before I
installed NVIDIA driver(NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5336-pkg1.run) completed and no error
then I change "nv" to "nvidia"
it's can work on my second PC(GeForce2TI)

I start x
just dark and show notthing
and Ctrl+Alt+Fx don't work

Type lsmod. Is nvidia in the output? If not not type modprobe nvidia.
Now will X start?

It may be as simply trying to login as a different user. Before you startx, login as a different user rather than the one you usually use, and try that. It worked for me.

but I think
ELSA GeForce DDR use offical driver
is fine on windowsXP in the same machine
and X-Window is work by "nv" driver
it look like my linux can't use old monitor by offical driver
sad, my first PC can't play 3D game on Linux....
only my second PC can
